Theme Switcha Rules

Thank you for using Theme Switcha!

Please understand that this plugin should not be used together with WordPress features such as Gutenberg Block Editor, Theme Customizer, Widgets, Menus, and other theme-related options. Doing so may result in private changes being made public on the current active theme.

What this plugin is for:

This plugin enables you to make changes to theme template files. So you can serve your current active theme to all visitors, and then privately work on any other installed theme. It’s designed for developers who want to build and customize themes behind the scenes, by working directly with theme template files.

What this plugin is NOT for:

This plugin is NOT for making changes via the Admin Area. For example, WordPress features such as Gutenberg Block Editor, Theme Customizer, Widgets, Menus, and other theme-related options are not “switchable” at this time. So if you are planning on making changes to Widgets, Menus, and so forth, you do NOT need this plugin. Use the Customizer instead.

Summary:

DO: use this plugin to enable visitors to switch themes
DO: use this plugin to work privately on theme template files
DO NOT: use this plugin together with Gutenberg, Theme Customizer, Widgets, Menus, or other theme-related options
If you need to make changes to theme-related options like Widgets and Menus, use the Theme Customizer. Because that’s what it is for: the Customizer enables you to customize your theme options privately, behind the scenes. So your visitors won’t know about the changes until you publish them via the Customizer. No Theme Switcha plugin necessary!
