Story

Pradeau Chair. For Essential Minimalists.

Minimalism for Maximalists

PRADEAU CHAIR.

For Essential Minimalists.

Artist Fred Pradeau challenged conventional notions of art and functionality with his groundbreaking creation: Crafted from just four stretcher frames and a single piece of canvas, it redefined what a chair could be. Enter Axel Schindlbeck, a seasoned product designer, who proposed a collaboration backed by his company MNTNT, with the goal to reinterpret the design considering aesthetics, usability and materiality.

Simplicity Redefined The Pradeau Chair, made from four wooden frames and a single piece of fabric, challenges us to rethink comfort and the ways things are made.

Conscious Living More than just a seat, it symbolizes a sustainable choice that reminds us that less can be more—inviting appreciation of what truly matters.

Embrace the Essentials In a world of excess, this chair embodies radical restraint and the elegance of simplicity, encouraging mindful living.

materials

We use only raw materials, prioritizing untreated wood and uncolored cotton to create sustainable products. This approach highlights the natural beauty of each material while minimizing environmental impact, ensuring our pieces are both functional and responsibly made.

img

locally sourced wood

Beech wood is a durable, fine-grained hardwood known for its strength and smooth finish, making it ideal for furniture with a refined, timeless quality. Its light, natural color and subtle grain patterns lend a clean, modern look that fits well with minimalist designs. Sourcing beech wood locally supports sustainable forestry and reduces environmental impact.

untreated wood

Untreated, sanded wood has been smoothed through sanding but has not undergone any chemical treatments, staining, or finishing processes. This type of wood retains its natural appearance, showcasing the unique grain patterns. Untreated, sanded wood can easily be oiled by yourself, enhancing its natural beauty while providing protection. Applying oil not only deepens the color and highlights the wood grain but also offers a layer of moisture resistance.

uncolored cotton fabric

Uncolored cotton fabric is a natural, untreated material with a soft, off-white hue that celebrates simplicity and sustainability. Free from dyes and chemicals, it has an earthy elegance and reduces environmental impact, making it a versatile choice that highlights craftsmanship and natural beauty.

easy assembly

The simple design enables fast and intuitive assembly. Users can construct or deconstruct the chair with ease, without needing complex tools or hardware, making it perfect for urban dwellers who frequently move or rearrange space.

The four frames stack securely together using grooves cut into each frame. This interlocking system ensures a stable and sturdy structure while simplifying assembly and disassembly, all while maintaining a sleek, minimalist aesthetic.

img

lightweight and portable

By using a lightweight frame structure, the chair is easy to move, rearrange, and it can be very easily stored, making it ideal for flexible living spaces.
